Fall Break Gratitude

We took a few days to go camping at Fall Creek Falls with some of our favorite camping families last week. It was a refreshing week of hiking, biking, reading and resting, not to mention playing with my camera. It started out warm enough to swim during the Gorge hike, but ended with layers of clothes and blankets and lots of bonfires. The leaves were changing too–much more so than here in Nashville, where almost everything is green. My list for the week:

  • Good friends

  • Morning campfire built by my Boy Scout!IMG_1858
  • Bike rides IMG_1903
  • Buckeye the Wonderdog comfortedIMG_1917
  • Kiddos washing dishes (cheerfully!) IMG_1926
  • Changing leaves of yellow and scarlet among the green IMG_1885

  • Campfires for s’mores–in the middle of the day! IMG_2007
  • Campfire with friends IMG_2048
  • My children’s sense of humor–meet Fun Guy the Fungi…IMG_1950
  • moonrise IMG_1922
  • cobwebs in the morning dew IMG_2083

  • taking time to read IMG_1898
  • tearing down camp togetherIMG_2108

  • home to warm water, a bathroom down the hall, a washer and dryer and a warm bed!

This was a delight to find in my Inbox this morning. Thanks for sharing, Lara.

  2. Sounds so familiar – we used to camp every Labor Day with good friends and lots of children. Special times we will not forget!
