Grateful for April

April is now here, and hopefully, the spring weather is now here to stay! Flowers and allergies are starting to emerge, as are the spring veggies and baby animals. While there were lots to be grateful for this week, the best was my sister and her husband finally getting to meet their sweet baby in Ethiopia! Here’s my list for the week:

3 gifts round:

  • round pansies in the pot by the back doorDSCN6919
  • round, plastic “fraction pies” to help get the concept across
  • round wild violets in the yardDSCN6922

3 gifts white and black:

  • new white and black calf, enjoying the springtime sun
  • guinea that tickled the children with his (or her!) callsDSCN6829
  • Mennonite prayer caps and bonnets

3 gifts surprisingly found:

  • cherry blossoms after a little frost
  • last day of daughter’s ballet class and the amazing improvement
  • supportive group of homeschooling families–not surprising, but welcome none-the-less

3 gifts in His word:

  • “Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Psalm 3:5-6
  • “But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5
  • “I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours.” John 17:9

Gifts at 11, 2, and 6 pm:

  • 11 am: peaceful day at school, and the end of the week!
  • 2 pm: tidied house, now party-ready
  • 6 pm: early teen girls, still innocent enough to jump on the trampoline, swing on the tire swing, blow bubbles and climb trees, then watch The Princess BrideDSCN6883

3 gifts nailed together:

  • bluebird houses made by grandsons and grandfather
  • raised beds filled with spinach, pea plants, and lettuce
  • Our comfy bed, and a good night’s sleep after the slumber party

3 gifts waited for:

  • first meeting of Miller Elijah, with his mama and daddy, my dear sister and her husband, in Ethiopia
  • first bike ride of the season!
  • First weeping cherry blossoms
