Gratitude for the changing seasons

No pictures this week-internet acting up. Here’s my list anyway:)

A gift silent, still, strong:

  • night sky full of stars
  • Beth Nielson Chapman’s Be Still My Soul. So beautiful!
  • breezes blowing colored leaves off the trees

3 gifts begun:

  • read through the Gospels
  • list of easy meals for my husband to make
  • The Lord of the Rings trilogy

3 gifts accomplished:

  • outer space study with the kids
  • laundry
  • starting another batch of vanilla

3 gifts enjoying:

  • Watching friend Autumn get ready to (finally!) go get her son in Ethiopia!
  • All four children on the mend after 10 days of sickness
  • perfect weather for last soccer practice

3 gits extravagant:

  • walk in the rain at Radnor Lake with beautiful fall colors on the trees and ground
  • vivid orange on amazing blue
  • moon turning everything silver

A gift humbling, honoring, happy:

  • the way my kids scoot their chairs right up to mine when I come home from work
  • watching a new family form, honoring God so sweetly
  • very, VERY last sunflower of the season, found 8 feet up, amongst the dried and shriveled remains of summer’s glory

3 gifts in Christ:

  • “For the wisdom of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to those of us who are being saved it is the power of God.” 1 Corinthians 1:18
  • “these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.  For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.  What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us.” 1 Corinthians 2:10-12
  • “Nor do I condemn you. Go and sin no more.” John 8:11
